Hello! My name is Shelly and I'm a self taught, home baker.
Over a decade ago, I founded this craft bakery as a tribute to Grandma Hartley, whose kitchen was where my passion for cake design first took shape. Her encouragement sparked my creativity at an early age and inspired the artistry and attention to detail that define our bakery today. Carrying forward her legacy—and her undeniable sweet tooth—I am proud to create desserts that blend heartfelt tradition with modern, handcrafted excellence.
I was inspired when I first heard of Create Waunakee, Inc.'s mission:
To inspire, connect, and unite current and future community members in showcasing and building upon what makes Waunakee a unique and vibrant place to live, work and visit.
In order to foster a more diverse and inclusive society, Create Waunakee, Inc. started Especially Create Waunakee a new culinary arts program that helps people with cognitive disabilities find lasting and fulfilling job opportunities in the area.

Together with Sweet Hartley’s and Especially Stroopwafels, Especially Create Waunakee, Inc. has established an apprenticeship program using a bakery and farmers market setting as a platform with a long-term goal to provide jobs for people with disabilities.

Besides the baked sweet goods from Sweet Hartley's, like cake pops and muffins, we will offer Dutch Stroopwafels, the round, sweet, delicious caramel-filled treats. We will sell these products at the farmers market in Waunakee, starting June 4th, and online. Our Apprentices will prepare, make, and sell the waffles. All proceeds go towards establishing fulfilling roles for people with disabilities.

Especially Create Waunakee is an initiative of Create Waunakee inc., a registered 501(3)(c) non-profit.
